Yes, you react intensely to the anger and sadness that you feel as a toddler without an understanding of scale or the words to express your disappointments. Yes, some of the things you become so furious about, so heartbroken over.. Seem ridiculous and trivial.

But then, your joys are also out of proportion. The shrieks of laughter, the huge smiles of greeting, the glee about simple things like a box or a bug or a funny sounding word.

I’d think you a strange small creature if you just took the highs and lows like an adult who had seen this world many times over. You are meant to feel things big and out of proportion. And I’d never trade away those shrieky laughing highs just to escape the shrieky crying lows.
